Musical repertoire
Ssassa's almost inexhaustible repertoire includes rousing gypsy music from Turkey, parts of the former Yugoslavia, Greece and Arab countries. The fiery music clearly expresses the direct connection to these cultures that the group has acquired on many trips to Europe and Turkey. Those in the know will not fail to notice that the five musicians are not only familiar with old, traditional music, but also with modern music. Depending on the theme of the event, Ssassa can invite guest musicians to focus on Spanish, Italian, Kurdish or Greek music. During the aperitif, Ssassa can play background music such as jazz standards and for a dance audience, the band can also incorporate Latin rhythms into its repertoire.
Oriental music with show
Ssassa's synthesis of virtuosic traditional music from the Orient and Western European life culture leads to musical-intercultural fireworks, carried by saxophone, trumpet, vocals, percussion and oud. Not only acoustically, but also visually, the group takes the audience away with show interludes by the oriental dancer Nadia Saba, Assala Ibrahim or Fabienne, who can also offer fire shows on request.
Ssassa invites the audience to join in with darabukas (Arabic drums), color fans or simple choruses, depending on their wishes and the situation. This not only goes down very well with children, but also with an adult audience.
Performances
In addition to evening concerts, Ssassa regularly performs in schools, where it offers an intercultural hands-on program adapted to the age of the children: "Schnabelwetzer, seven songs in seven languages". The group has already given over 5500 performances at home and abroad. These include private events, gala events, major events such as the Gypsy Festival in the sold-out KKL Lucerne and Kongresshaus Zurich as well as TV appearances such as in Kuwait.
