Versatile repertoire
The band Ceól - "music" in Irish - consists of three renowned musicians from Ireland and Switzerland. They play traditional Irish and Scottish songs as well as original compositions and exciting interpretations of well-known pieces - and they like to experiment with musical elements from different cultures.
Ceól includes the string instrumentalist Christian Fotsch, known as the founder of the international "Oriental & Flamenco Gypsy Festival", the multi-award-winning singer and Irish bagpipe player Brendan Wade and the violinist Paddy Stocker.
On request, the musicians can be booked as solo artists or as a duo - or the formation can perform with additional musicians. Guest musicians include David Aebli, Tom Keller and Catherine Rhatigan.
Depending on the piece, the artists play different instruments. They play the Irish and Scottish bagpipes, fiddle, Irish bouzouki, guitar, double bass and percussion. Don't like the sound of bagpipes? On request, Ceól will perform without the instrument.
Traditional dances
But not only music, dance also plays an important role in Ceól. The band works closely with Christina Matthews, founder of the Éirinn Irish Dance School in Zurich, and dancer Ricarda Reutimann and performs together. Would you like a dance interlude with traditional Irish dances at your event? Ceól will be happy to organize this for you. Depending on the occasion, a breakdance interlude with Imre Antalfy, who normally plays the bagpipes and performs as a guest musician with Ceól, is also possible.
